'Elvio Cardinaletti' Scholarship, Casali pays tribute to the Synthetics Division creator

At a year from his death, Casali spa has decided to pay tribute to Elvio Cardinaletti, the chemist who invented and founded the Casali Synthetics Divisions, by creating a scholarship in his name through the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry of Bologna University where Elvio graduated in 1973. An unforgettable personality, both for his humanity and the enormous contribution he gave to Casali with the creation in 1980 of the Synthetics Division and later the creation of the Sports Surfaces line, Elvio Cardinaletti believed in people and his passion for chemistry. Thanks to this he obtained important results, first in research and the creation of waterproofing products for the building trade, from the earliest bitumen-polymer membranes to Casali synthetic liquid products and later thanks to his firm belief in the great innovative potential of a line of highly technological resins for the sports industry. Today some of the greatest tennis stars in the world train and play on tennis courts produced with Casali resins. The graduate scholarship offered by the Department of Industrial Chemistry and Materials which will allow the winner the opportunity to study in the research project “Polymer Systems for Advanced Applications”, was created in collaboration with Luigi Angiolini, Full Professor of the Department at Bologna University who will also be the tutor of the scholarship winner. The deadline for applications is 9 December 2009. For Casali and all those who are part of the company this initiative has a profound meaning but also represents the hope that it will be even more important for the person who is offered this opportunity allowing the scholarship winner to turn his or her passion into the work of a lifetime with the same strength and humanity of Elvio Cardinaletti who will always be in our hearts and thoughts.
